Delta Project News

August 2010

This month's news is a little early and is shorter than usual because of holidays. Back to full length in September!

Note that Maldoror Bowman will be away (though contactable) from 15th-28th August. If you need help please contact stephanie Picnic.

New Colt SAA shipped

The updated Colts have shipped. The new set now have two CCS bullets, life (1% LIFE+1% MELE) and stamina (2% STAMINA), as well as bullets for many other combat systems. Among many new features are: alt fire mode (fire left then right rather than both at once), autoreload, a resizable belt (three in fact!) an a complete new set of custom animations.

As we warned last month the price is now L$1000.

Where next for the historics? Probably the Derringer, as this very short range gun will really benefit from percent CCS damage. Expect an update in September; possibly an update to the CCS special too, if we can find a way of distributing it that doesn't overburden the CCS developers.

Dynamite

The DHW dynamite has been updated. The original release would in some circumstances (for example rolling across a sim border) lie around unexploded for all time; we've added a couple of extra tricks to dispose of these unwanted prims.

At the same time we revised damage levels. The original dynamite was shipped in the week percent CCS damage was announced and the damage levels we set turned out to be rather low by comparison with other explosives. The revised version does up to 25% LIFE and 10% STAMINA damage. And the price is unchanged at L$500.

Gun script 1.14

Version 1.14 of the gun script is now shipping. Users of earlier versions need to attach the demo pistol (pre 1.13) or rezz the laptop (1.13) to get the update. Developer users also need to contact Delta support for a new activation script and a free rezzer pack.

For new users, there are now three components. The personal gun script allows you to script a fully functional weapon with your own effects, your own choice of ammo and support for semi, burst and auto fire. The developer edition is just the same but allows you to sell or give away the gun you make. The rezzer pack (only available for the developer version) is new with 1.14 and allows you to add the slave rezzer scripts needed for fast auto guns or shotguns.

Delta Prime range

In case you didn't know, we have a fully featured practice range in Delta Prime. Just click on the sign outside the shop (pictured right) to teleport there. The vendor there has free demo versions of most of the Delta range: they are fully featured weapons but they only work in Delta Prime and they have none of the extras such as holsters and HUDs.

Once you've picked out the gun you want (or brought one of your own, the range isn't restricted to Delta weapons) you can attack one of the targets standing around or head down to the four lane underground shooting range which has adjustable targets and bullet testers to help you evaluate the weapon you are testing.

We do ask one thing: you are welcome to rezz objects to help you test, but please clear them up before you leave. We don't have autoreturn on in the sim, but we will return prims left behind if you forget to do so. Remember too that Delta Prime is a CCS sim and CCS rules apply here as everywhere; a Varen drone is installed to deter campers.

Steampunk

We told you all about the steam shotgun last month; it will beta later this month and is due to ship in early September.

Looking beyond that, our dedicated steampunk design team is hard at work on the design of a steam minigun, sifting through trunkloads of period images and designs. A recently discovered picture of a great detective at work is supplying valuable period detail, and also perhaps suggesting how he was able to obtain such effective results even when deduction failed him.

DX-13 comm

A new addition to the comm range is in testing: the DX-13 high security team comm. Unlike the DX-11, which requires a rezzed controller and is designed for user as a factional comm for a group to use on its home patch, the DX-13 is a comm for the away team. HTTP based settings make setup a breeze; your personal card protects your comms from copying, but you can also add a password, group restrictions, limited lifetime settings, all adding up to a system of secure comms your enemies will be unable to snoop.

Just one pack serves a team of any size! As well as the commander comm, which allows you to set up and edit services, the pack includes a free to copy user comm for you to personalise and hand out to your team. You can make it look and behave how you like; you can adapt it to give feedback as some roleplay sims require; you can even add your own commands.

You aren't restricted to spoken comms either. The commander comm can be used to hand out notecards and images to your team, making setting up a mission a breeze.

Our normal test group isn't set up to test team products and so we are keen to find a few established teams who would like to help test and evaluate the DX-13. Contact us if you are interested.

Affiliate vendors

This is going to be a regular slot, apologies to regulars but we are always getting new enquiries about affiliate vendors.

Affiliates are vendors rezzed by people other than Delta to sell Delta products. The person that rezzes the vendor gets a cut of the price, usually 10% but we do 20% special promotions.

To get a set of affiliate vendors either visit the Vendor shop in the Mall in Delta Prime or find any Delta Infopoint and press the Vendors button. Once you get the set, rezz the little black cone, set the description to your shop name, and click it. The cone will add your shop to the web directory of our shops, will display a 'Delta approved' sign, and will see that you get new affiliate vendors as they are updated.

You can see the shop directory at the link below.
